CSBI assess children who have been or are suspected of having been sexually abused. Female caregivers complete the 38 item questionnaire, rating frequency of child’s sexual behaviours from 0 (never) – 3 (at least once a week). The test was developed in response to evidence that sexual abuse is related to the presence of precocious sexual behaviour in children.

It gives scores on boundary problems, exhibitionism, gender Role Behavior, self-stimulation, sexual anxiety, sexual interest, sexual intrusiveness, sexual knowledge and voyeuristic behavior. It will also give a total sexual behaviour score.

The measure is designed to be completed by a female caregiver for children aged 2-12. It is one of the most widely used measures of sexual behaviors. It must be used in combination with other clinical measures to ensure child safety and fully understand them.
