Mental Health Minimum Dataset

The dataset contains record level data about NHS services delivered to over a million people with severe and enduring mental health problems each year, beginning in 2003.

A number of statistics are provided online and are open access. To access certain data, a request must be made through the Data Linkage and Extraction Service (www.hscic.gov.uk/dles)

Features

Specific data relates to: The number of people using NHS mental health services; the rate of access to NHS mental health services; the number of people detained in hospital; the number of people on the Care Programme Approach (CPA); information about how long people spend in hospital; information about the number of beds, patient admissions and discharges; number of contacts with different professional staff groups; information about the types of clinical teams coordinating patient care.

Reports were previously published quarterly, but will be published monthly as of April 2013. Reports comprise: an executive summary; monthly data on 56 measures of provider/CCG pairingsl provider level data quality measures; a background data quality report; a detailed metadata file.
