Press release: New website brings easy to use impact measurement to small and medium charities.

Published:15th April 2019

Today, 15 April 2019 the Inspiring Impact programme launches a new website. Thanks to National Lottery funding. it will offer a suite of free how-to guides and self-assessment tools for small and medium charities to help them understand and increase their impact. The website combines Inspiring Impact resources with those of the Impact Management Programme following their merger in August 2018. It will hold resources from across the sector, with everything from research reports and diagnostic tools, to outcomes frameworks and surveys.

These tools and resources have been codesigned with 200 charities and social enterprises, so that the support available is responsive and relevant to organisations trying to improve their work with limited resources. This includes the Data Diagnostic, a 5-minute questionnaire that provides tailored recommendations about what data to collect, which has already been used by over 600 people to review their data collection methods.

Over 110,000 people have used these resources already and now that they are consolidated in one place it is hoped that they will be more accessible, and even more charities will use them.

The website is particularly aimed at small or medium charities who don’t have dedicated impact management staff and the content aims to help individuals to identify the practical steps people can take to improve their practice.

The Inspiring Impact programme has been running since 2012. It is funded by Access – The Foundation for Social Investment, City Bridge Trust and The National Lottery Community Fund. So far it has supported over 70,000 charities with over £1m funding to achieve good impact practice.

Judith Rankin, Development & Delivery Manager, Sported said:

‘Inspiring Impact’s network, support and resources have massively helped to develop both Sported’s own impact practice and that of our members. Our staff team have benefitted from the opportunity for peer-learning with other Inspiring Impact Champions across the UK, and many of our member groups have utilised the Measuring Up assessment tool which provides an excellent framework to identify priority areas.

We look forward to exploring the new website and resources to build upon our work developing the evidence base for the Sport for Development sector.’

Joe Ferns, UK Funding Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said:

‘Thanks to National Lottery players more community organisations and charities will be able to better plan, measure and improve their impact with Inspiring Impact’s new website and tools. By creating a culture in civil society of continuous improvement, with the help of peer learning networks and free online resources, more and more communities across the UK can thrive.’
